International Task Force Meeting, Part I

Monday, 2 May 2005
8:30 a.m. to noon
Location: Salon J/K
Crystal Gateway Marriott, Arlington VA

The ITF is made up of representatives from each of the organizations with whom Internet2 has partnered through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Please note Breakfast will be served at 7:30am and that the meeting will start at 8:30 a.m. During the first half of the ITF meeting, we will hold two panels with participants from the global networking community on issues of international relevance: Authentication and Authorization Infrastructures (AAIs) and Security. Towards the end, there will be an update from the recently formed Special Interest Group for Supporting International Collaborations in Hard to Network Parts of the World

Current technological activities in interconnecting AAIs in Europe are concentrated around two initiatives: GN2-JRA5 (GEANT2 "Roaming and Authorization" activity) and the TERENA TF-EMC2. These activities try to fill the gaps amomg the different infrastructures that, withdifferent levels of maturity, have flourished across Europe in the past couple of years. The final goal is to build an AAI able to support seamless, and location independent access both to network and to application services, and able to interoperate with similar systems worldwide.

The Cotswold Cookbook Project
David Wasley (USA)

The Internet has given rise to virtual organizations and virtual communities around the world.  Federated identity management is emerging as a valuable infrastructure component in which reliable identity and privilege information can used across both traditional and virtual communities to manage access to services and resources. The Cotswold Cookbook Project is developing a reference work for education and research communities that may wish to participate in an identity management federation and for federations that may wish to interoperate with other federations.
