International Task Force Meeting
Fall 2002 Internet2 Member Meeting

The ITF is made up of representatives from each of the organizations with whom Internet2 has partnered through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The ITF serves as the forum for discussion of international issues relevant to the development of a high-performance, leading-edge network infrastructure, advanced technologies and applications for research and education.

The session will consist of 3 panels of presentations and discussion

1:00-2:00 p.m. Regional Backbone Network Developments

The first panel will provide updates on major regional/continental network activities, including the Asia Broadband Backbone Initiative, the CLARA initiative in South America and the GEANT pan-European network.

2:00-3:00 p.m. Video collaboration infrastructure and services around the world

This panel will bring together representatives from three countries who have built, or are in the process of building, collaborative infrastructure - to share lessons learned, design issues and other ideas. Moderator: Egon Verharen, SURFNET/Internet2 Commons Management Team

3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Middleware Developments around the world: issues in national and regional implementation and international coordination

The third panel will focus how different countries and regions are developing middleware infrastructure on a national or regional basis. Moderator: Ken Klingenstein, Internet2
